Our History

The Crawford Agency has been serving Geneva and the surrounding communities for over 80 years. It all started when Andrew Crawford, Jr. entered the independent insurance agency business with the purchase of the Dean T. Ford agency in 1944. The agency operated under that name until 1952 when the name was officially changed to Crawford Agency, Inc. The office moved to our present location of 55 South Forest Street, Geneva, Ohio in 1958, with an addition built in 1978 to accommodate our growing needs.


Andrew’s son Terry joined the agency full time in 1964 and son James came on board in 1969. Andrew served as President until 1969 when son Terry took over the Presidency and served until 1989. Jim Crawford currently serves as President since he assumed the role in 1989. Jim’s step-son Michael Goddard joined the staff in 1990. Michael serves as the Vice President of the corporation and runs the day to day operations.



Other employees include Pat Traylor and Emily Nicholson. Pat is the commercial lines manager and has been in the insurance industry since 1980 and with the agency for going on 29 years. Emily has been with the agency since 2016 and handles the accounting along with commercial and personal lines. Mike and two additional agents provide most of the personal lines customer service.

    Jim is a second generation Agent, taking over as President after his father and brother retired from the Agency. After 50 years with the Agency he is now semi-retired himself, allowing him to spend more time with his wife, Barb, and family.
